This new service aims to streamline cargo movement between these regions, promising efficient and reliable delivery.

Ecco-rail GmbH has initiated a new intermodal transport route connecting Romania and Belgium. The inaugural train departed from the Stukwerker terminal at the Belgian port of Gent on May 16, 2024, and reached its destination at the Arad terminal on the Romanian border after a 56-hour transit.

The route navigates from Germany, starting at Aachen West, traversing Austria, and continuing through Hungary to Romania. The turnaround time at Arad is minimized to just 12 hours before the return journey commences, optimizing the transport cycle.

Ecco-rail AT, DE, and HU have collaborated closely with various partners to ensure the quality of goods transport meets the expectations of their client, Rail Hub Transylvania. This new service comes in response to the shifting dynamics in cargo transport, where alternative routes to traditional Ukrainian connections are gaining prominence.
