METRANS is introducing a new intermodal rail connection between the Afluent terminal in Arad and the Yusen terminal in Bucharest.

The new connection integrates the Bucharest area, along with the eastern regions of Romania, into METRANS’ rail network. Through the Afluent Arad terminal and the METRANS hub in Budapest Csepel, the service links Romania directly to major North Sea ports, including Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven, and Rotterdam, as well as to Adriatic ports such as Koper and Rijeka.

The intermodal route provides an option for rail-based transport from Bucharest to European ports without reliance on road haulage. It also extends to hinterland destinations across Central and Western Europe using METRANS’ network of inland terminals.

Additionally, the connection offers a rail transport solution between the port of Constanta and inland locations in Europe. The service can be used both for exporting cargo from inland Europe to Constanta and for importing goods from Constanta to inland destinations via the METRANS terminal network, which includes 20 intermodal hubs across multiple European countries.
