Two signed memoranda of understanding aim at developing intermodal logistics in Northwest Italy, focusing on the Turin–Orbassano terminal.

The first MoU, signed by FS Logistix, Interporto di Torino and Sito Logistica, establishes a joint programme to develop intermodal and conventional traffic at the Turin–Orbassano railway yard. The partners plan to expand terminal-to-terminal and end-to-end services and coordinate commercial activities with industrial customers and supply chain operators.

The second agreement, between Terminali Italia (part of FS Logistix) and Sito Logistica, sets out steps towards a Network Contract for the joint management of intermodal terminals in the Turin area. The objective is to position Orbassano as a competitive intermodal hub at national and European level, in view of planned infrastructure upgrades in Northwest Italy through 2033.

According to the companies, the combined terminal area includes 12 operating sidings, more than 275,000 m² of yards and around 10,000 m² of warehouses with internal rail access. The site employs more than 50 staff and handles intermodal, conventional and specialised traffic.

The wider Orbassano interport covers approximately 3,000,000 m², hosts 80 operators and employs over 3,000 people. It integrates a rail yard, freight village and multiple terminals and is positioned on the TEN-T network corridors.

FS Logistix reports a transport volume of more than 13 million tonnes and over 22,000 commercial trains in Northwest Italy, accounting for more than 40% of its total train movements.
